Paris St-Germain have confirmed the €5.5 million signing of Nene from Monaco, with the Brazilian winger agreeing a three-year deal at the capital club.

Nene had been subject to interest from Benfica and Schalke, but opted to stay in Ligue 1, where he becomes PSG coach Antoine Kombouare's second signing of the summer - following the capture of Mathieu Bodmer.

"I'm very happy to have signed for Paris," Nene told PSG's official website. "Now I just hope things go well out on the pitch. PSG is a huge club. The fans and the atmosphere in the stadium are incredible."

Nene signed for Monaco in 2007 but after struggling to hold down a regular spot in the team he moved to Espanyol on loan in 2008-09 before enjoying his best-ever professional season back with Monaco last season.

He represented Brazil's Under-23 team at the 2003 CONCACAF Gold Cup and during an impressive 2009-10 campaign registered 14 league strikes and four assists with Monaco.

"Like PSG, I'm hoping to have a big league season and to pull something off in the Europa League," Nene said. "I'll get to know everyone bit by bit and the understanding out on the pitch will come naturally."

The new signing could get his first taste of action with his new club as soon as July 28, when PSG take on Ligue 1 champions Marseille in the Champions Trophy in Tunisia.
