Everton have signed striker Joao Silva from Desportivo Aves on a three-year deal.

Silva, 20, made his breakthrough last season and has already represented Portugal at Under-20 level.

A statement on Everton's official website read: "Everton have signed striker Joao Silva from Portuguese side Desportivo Das Aves. Blues officials flew to Portugal this week to conclude the transfer and the 20-year-old has now penned a three-year deal, signing for an undisclosed fee.

"He will now move to Merseyside before linking up with the Everton squad when they reconvene at the start of July for the pre-season tour to Australia."

Silva was the second top scorer in the Portuguese second tier last season with 14 goals in 32 appearances.
