Kapo has failed to make an impact at the DW Stadium and made just one appearance under manager Roberto Martinez before heading to France on a temporary deal in January.

The winger, who joined Wigan from Birmingham for £3.5 million in 2008, now wants the final year of his contract to be annulled, and is leaving the matter in the hands of his agent.

"I should know more in a few days' time. My agent should be meeting the management at Wigan. I hope we can reach an agreement so that they release me," Kapo told French newspaper L'Equipe.

"My wish is to stay in Ligue 1, as simple as that. I enjoy this league. I'm making this decision for my children too. I want them to have a quality education in France."

Kapo, 29, is unlikely to be staying with Boulogne, following their relegation from the Ligue 1, but savoured his spell with the club.

"I've had six great months," said the former Auxerre and Juventus player. "The people of Boulogne are so nice. They welcomed me like a family member."
