Pellegrini: There's more to come from Real

Real Madrid coach Manuel Pellegrini is still looking for more from his side despite seeing them continue their superb domestic form with a 5-1 mauling of Tenerife.

Saturday's win on the Canary Islands followed on from last weekend's 6-2 demolition of Villarreal, and extended Madrid's winning streak in La Liga to six games, during which time they have scored 22 goals and conceded just four. It has been a hugely impressive run, but Pellegrini feels they are not the finished article.

"There's always room for improvement, we still aren't the perfect team. We need to contain the ball better in defence,'' Pellegrini said.

"Seeing the way other teams have struggled here served us well. We knew Tenerife were a tough team to beat so we came out strongly in attack. We've had a good match.''

Tenerife have picked up 18 of their 20 points this season at home, and they made things harder for Madrid than the final scoreline suggests.

Striker Gonzalo Higuain took his leagu tally for the season to 16 by netting Madrid's opening two goals, before Kaka, Cristiano Ronaldo (penalty) and Raul completed the scoring.

Higuain, who finished as Madrid's top scorer last season, was pleased with his night's work but was disappointed not to complete a hat-trick as his lob came back off the crossbar.

The Argentinian also missed the opportunity to net his third from the spot as he was substituted in the 78th minute - a minute before his side won their penalty. He is now just a goal behind Barcelona's Lionel Messi and David Villa of Valencia in the scoring charts.

"I'm very happy because I'm closer to being the Pichichi (leading scorer) in La Liga. The pity was the one that hit the crossbar because I was looking at a hat-trick.'' said Higuain.

Higuain also played a key role in Madrid's third goal scored by Kaka, which came 60 seconds after Tenerife had pulled a controversial goal back just after half-time to make the score 2-1.

"To make it 3-1 so quickly killed them. Tenerife also missed many chances,'' added Higuain. "We need to be calm and continue in this way. Things go from good to bad very easily.''
