CHICAGO -- Midfielder Megan Rapinoe has been added to the U.S. roster for the Algarve Cup women's tournament in place of Tobin Heath, who has an unspecified illness.
Rapinoe missed last month's training camp because of sickness but the U.S. Soccer Federation said she will join the team when it leaves for Europe on Thursday. The 24-year-old has four goals in 11 international appearances, including the goal in the win over Norway that advanced the Americans to last year's Algarve final.
The tournament in Portugal runs from Feb. 24-March 3, with the Group A and B winners meeting for the championship. The U.S. is in Group B and plays Iceland on Feb. 24, Norway two days later and Sweden on March 1. Group A includes China, Denmark, Finland and Germany.
