Real Madrid lose appeal over Ronaldo red-card
The Spanish football federation's appeals committee have upheld the two-match ban given to Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo for his sending off in last weekend's Primera Division match with Malaga.
Ronaldo was shown a straight red card in the 70th minute of the Primera Division encounter at the Bernabeu after his swinging elbow caught Patrick Mtiliga in the face, leaving the Denmark defender with a broken nose.
Ronaldo was subsequently handed a two-match ban by the RFEF, and although Madrid appealed, the initial ruling was upheld.
The world's most expensive player is now set to miss the matches against Deportivo La Coruna and Espanyol, although Madrid have confirmed they will now present their case before the CEDD in a bid to have Ronaldo's ban overturned.
