FFA to punish A-League clubs for melees

Gold Coast United and Central Coast Mariners have been charged with team misconduct by Football Federation Australia for their melee during Friday night's clash at Bluetongue Stadium.

A from-behind challenge by Mariners midfielder John Hutchinson on Zenon Caravella sparked the ugly confrontations between the players in the 69th minute of their match.

Gold Coast boss Miron Bleiberg accused the Mariners of resorting to roughhouse tactics following the 1-1 draw in Gosford and branded them "psychos".
