Fernandes' agent claims Everton interest
Everton are apparently looking to take Valencia midfielder Manuel Fernandes back to the club on loan in January.
Fernandes, who has already had two stints at Goodison Park, is apparently keen to secure first-team football to bolster his hopes of playing for Portugal at next summer's World Cup and agent Jorge Mendes says the player would be happy to return to Everton for the second half of the season.
He told the Daily Mirror: "To have any chance of playing at the World Cup he needs minutes and matches and Everton is a serious chance."
Reports suggest cash-strapped Valencia would be open to a loan to reduce their wage bill, but sporting director Fernando Gomez believes that, with a fibula injury having hampered him last season, he could have a future at the club.
He said in A Bola: "Manuel Fernandes was injured and we still don't know how important he could be to the team. I personally believe that he can be very important."
Asked about the chances of the player leaving, Gomez said: "It would depend on the proposal."
