Tottenham won't let Bentley and Pav go cheap

Harry Redknapp says David Bentley and Roman Pavlyuchenko will not be allowed to leave Tottenham unless the club receives adequate offers.

Redknapp has confirmed the pair, who were both left out of the matchday squad to face Wolves at the weekend after lacking effort in the previous week, want a fresh start when the January transfer window opens.

However, the duo cost almost £30 million and it appears chairman Daniel Levy would be unwilling to accept a substantial loss on them if they are to leave White Hart Lane.

"David would like to move, there is no doubt about that," Redknapp said. "He feels he needs to move on and play. Obviously Pav wants to move but we are not mad to sell them. They are not going cheap and are both good players.

"It is up to the chairman and whether he gets the money and it is the right offer. I would not let them go cheaper, otherwise you end up giving them all away. I won't let my emotions get in the way of the fee we get for Pav and Bentley."

Levy has spoken to a Russian club about the possibility of Pavlyuchenko returning after an unhappy spell following his move from Spartak Moscow. "There is a chance Pav will go because he feels he wants to move back home," Redknapp said.

Despite being left out at the weekend, both could feature against Manchester City in Wednesday's Premier League clash at White Hart Lane, although it is likely to be off the bench if at all. Redknapp has been unimpressed with Bentley's attitude but admits he has suffered in recent times.

"It is not right that he had a bad week," he said. "He should come in and work hard and train hard every day, but it is not easy when you don't see any light at the end of the tunnel sometimes.

"I think that is how he is feeling, but I have had a chat with him and he realises he cannot do that. They have both got a chance against City. They have trained well this week and I have had a chat with both of them. They have been much better."
