The ex-Rangers star decided to terminate his Roar contract last week in order to find a new club after coach Ange Postecoglou could not promise him a future in Brisbane beyond the end of the season. Miller was initially linked to North Queensland Fury but he was spotted watching Gold Coast's 2-1 A-League victory over Central Coast Mariners at the weekend.

The 33-year-old was invited to train with Miron Bleiberg's side and has agreed a deal with United to replace the injured Brazilian Robson, who is out until the new year with a knee injury.

"I have felt for some weeks that we could do with another player in midfield who could add something to the team in terms of creating opportunities for our strikers and Charlie fits the bill very nicely," said Bleiberg. "He will add something extra to what is already an exceptional midfield department. It's almost like an early Christmas present for us. I have admired his talent for some time and he is a player who people will pay to come and watch.

"Charlie is grateful for the opportunity and we are grateful to have him. There is every possibility that we could be fortunate enough to see the very best of Charlie Miller in a Gold Coast United shirt. He can help set us up for our run to the finish line of the season.''
