Scotland boss Burley had already lost Danny Fox, Robert Snodgrass, Kevin Thomson and Garry O'Connor from the squad for Saturday's friendly game in Yokohama.

Defender Lee Wallace of Hearts was called up to the senior squad for the first time, and is joined by striker Lee Miller of Aberdeen and Dundee United's Scott Robertson and Craig Conway.

Scott Brown visited a London specialist over his ongoing ankle problem, which forced him to miss the start of the season, and has now been ruled out of the trip to Japan.

Burley's squad assembled for training on Tuesday at Dumbarton but several of his stars arrived with knocks and only 10 outfield players took part in the session.
