Johnston extends career with St Mirren
St Mirren have signed former Scotland international Allan Johnston to boost their midfield ranks, rewarding the free agent who has been training with the club since pre-season.

Johnston, who has played for Hearts, Rangers and most recently Kilmarnock in Scotland, has signed until the end of the season.
The 35-year-old has also spent time at a number of English clubs including Sunderland, Birmingham City, Bolton Wanderers, Middlesbrough and Sheffield Wednesday, and played for Rennes early in his career.
Johnston, who has two international goals, impressed St Mirren manager Gus MacPherson in a trial against Wigan in pre-season.
At the time, MacPherson said financial barriers could prevent a deal being offered, but now that an agreement has been reached Johnston can add experience to a campaign that has so far seen St Mirren earn five points from as many matches.
