Italy captain Fabio Cannavaro is set to miss Juventus' Champions League visit to Bayern Munich on September 30 because of a thigh muscle injury which will sideline him for up to three weeks.

The centre back suffered the injury during Juve's Group A opener against Bordeaux on Tuesday which ended 1-1.

"A period out of 15 to 20 days is planned during which there will be physiotherapy and a gradual return to fitness," said a statement on the club's official website.

Midfielders Tiago and Felipe Melo also suffered knocks against Bordeaux and will be unavailable on Saturday when Juventus seek to continue their perfect start in Serie A by beating Livorno at home for their fourth consecutive victory.

Brazilian playmaker Diego will be out for a week with a hamstring injury and captain Alessandro Del Piero is battling to recover from a thigh problem.
