NEW YORK -- Colorado Rapids midfielder Pablo Mastroeni has been suspended two games and fined $1,250 for endangering the safety of an opponent.
The MLS announced the fine on Thursday. The endangerment occurred in the 63rd minute of the Rapids' 1-0 win against the Houston Dynamo on Aug. 30.
Dynamo defender Andrew Hainault was injured on the play, and Mastroeni received a yellow card. The MLS disciplinary committee determined Mastroeni's actions were reckless and egregious.
Mastroeni will serve the suspension when the Rapids host Toronto FC on Saturday. He'll miss the road game against Toronto FC on Sept. 12.
