About 60 Palermo fans were held by Florence police after trouble flared in the city before their Serie A match with Fiorentina, Italian media reported on Sunday.
Italian authorities have been cracking down on hooligans but government plans to bring in a nationwide 'supporter card', which will digitally keep track of fans, have resulted in protests from supporters' groups.
Fiorentina won the match 1-0.
