Borussia Dortmund coach Jurgen Klopp insists he did a lot more than just watch new signing Lucas Barrios' goals on Youtube before deciding to bring the Argentinian striker to the club.

The 24-year-old has moved to the Bundesliga from Chilean champions Colo Colo and took part in his first training session with his new team-mates on Sunday.

Barrios scored 37 goals in 38 games last season and had reportedly also attracted the interest of Hertha Berlin and Serie A sides Lazio and Roma.

"It has been a very interesting player for us for a long time,'' Klopp told Dortmund's official website. "We made contact with him early on and kept an eye on him for a long time - and not only watched his 37 goals on Youtube.

"He is tough physically, brings presence with his 1.89metre frame, is aggressive and has great finishing ability. We now have another option up front, where we are well covered.''

Barrios believes he is ready to make an impact in Europe after spells at a host of clubs in South America. He said: "I will be playing in a difficult league, but I feel it is the right time. I am aware that the expectations are high.''
