The Rossoneri have failed to up their bid for the Brazil striker, while the 28-year-old maintains he is happy in Spain.

Milan's lawyer, Leandro Cantamessa has hit back at Fabiano's agent, Jose Fuentes, who blamed the Italian club for a lack of progress.

Cantamessa said: "It's all a question of opinion. Fuentes feels the money is not enough, whereas we feel it is. Has the deal failed? I don't think so no. That's not the right word to describe it.

"We made an offer, they never replied on paper but they used strong words in a press conference to give a negative response. For now the deal is closed and if Sevilla don't value our offer then we will pull out."

Fabiano backed Sevilla's stance in holding out for more money, but insists he would have no problem participating in another La Liga season.

"I understand Sevilla didn't accept [Milan's offer] bearing in mind how the transfer market is going," the striker told AS.

"Why should I leave? Sevilla must be happy. I am very happy with Sevilla and they are happy with me. My agent didn't pressure me into anything. I am happy to continue playing with Sevilla at the levels which allowed me to reach the Confederations Cup."
