U.S. international forward Charlie Davies, who impressed in the recent Confederations Cup in South Africa, is reportedly close to signing a four-year contract with French Ligue 1 side Sochaux according to French newspaper L'Equipe.

Davies has spent the last three seasons with Sweden's Hammarby and has notched 21 goals in 56 appearances in the Swedish Allsvenskan. Sochaux has targeted Davies to replace former leading scorer Mevlut Erding, who recently transferred to Paris Saint-German.

Prior to moving to Europe in 2007, Davies, a New Hampshire native, starred at Boston College for three seasons.
