Sao Paulo goalkeeper Rogerio Ceni has been ruled out for four months after breaking his ankle in training.
The 36-year-old goalscoring custodian, the most-capped player in the history of the club, fell awkwardly during training and although it was initially hoped it was only a sprain, scans revealed a fracture and he will undergo surgery.
Ceni will miss the end of the Campeonato Paulista and the Copa Libertadores, as well as the start of the Campeonato Brasileiro meaning second choice Bosco, 34, will deputise.
"We are yet to decide when he will be operated on, but we need to put some nails in to consolidate the bone," team doctor Marco Antonio Cunha told GloboEsporte.
"The surgery will take place as soon as possible and the recovery time might be a little longer or shorter."
