Troubled Inter Milan striker Adriano will not return to Italy until next week, according to the player's agent.
The 27-year-old Brazil forward failed to report back to the club last Friday following international duty and his whereabouts remained a mystery for much of the weekend, but his agent has now confirmed the player is in Rio de Janeiro with his family.
"Adriano will return to Italy next week," said Gilmar Rinaldi, who also explained the reason behind the player's absence.
"Adriano is not depressed," he added in Gazzetta dello Sport. "I have never said this nor has his mother.
"He has a personal problem that we are trying to resolve and one which we don't wish to discuss right now."
Inter have made no official comment regarding Adriano's disappearance but coach Jose Mourinho has urged the Nerazzurri fans to stand by the player.
"I think the fans shouldn't be angry with him (Adriano) but rather understand the difficult situation he faces," said Mourinho.
"It's a complicated situation for Adriano the man rather than Adriano the player."
It is not the first time Adriano has been troubled by personal problems.
Inter allowed the South American star to join Sao Paulo on a six-month loan deal last season after the player acknowledged he was going through a difficult patch.
Adriano returned to Inter last summer and has since scored three goals in 12 league appearances for the Serie A leaders.
