Toulouse moved up to second place in Ligue 1 after claiming a 1-1 draw away to Auxerre.

Les Violets fell behind when Polish striker Ireneusz Jelen applied a cool finish to Dennis Oliech's through-ball in the 25th minute despite a strong suspicion of offside.

However, they made sure of taking something from the match when Alexandre Bonnet's cross was volleyed in by Bryan Bergougnoux with his first touch in the 81st minute.

The draw puts Toulouse level on points with Paris St Germain on 46 but with a superior goal difference. League leaders Lyon plus third-placed PSG and Marseille in fourth are in action tomorrow.

Le Mans put some distance between themselves and the relegation zone today by beating Ligue 1 whipping boys Le Havre 2-0 with goals from Modibo Maija and Gervinho.

Elsewhere, Valenciennes picked up a vital 2-0 derby win against high-flying Lille, Vaclav Sverkos netted the only goal as relegation-threatened Sochaux secured a potentially vital three points at home to Nice with a 1-0 triumph, while Nantes and Grenoble drew 1-1.
