Argentina's Heinze considers retiring after 2010

February 13, 2009

Gabriel Heinze will retire should he be part of a winning Argentina side at next year's World Cup in South Africa.

The Real Madrid defender was part of the Albiceleste side which picked up a promising 2-0 win over France in Wednesday's friendly in Marseille.

Following that win the 30-year-old has announced he will call time on his playing days should he and his Argentina team-mates cut a 24-year run without winning the World Cup.

He told Radio del Plata: "If in 2010 God enlightens me, maybe I will give up everything because this (winning the World Cup) is the biggest wish I have in my life.

"What else I could wish if the World Cup is the biggest a footballer can ask for?"
