Eredivisie: AZ Alkmaar extend lead at the summit

AZ Alkmaar increased their lead at the top of the Dutch Eredivisie with a 3-1 home win over Willem II.

Said Boutahar had given the visitors the lead after 16 minutes but AZ replied with strikes from Moussa Dembele, Maarten Martens and Mounir El Hamdaoui.

Heerenveen lie fourth after a 3-1 victory over NAC who had fought back from a goal down.

Heerenveen's Goran Popov had opened the scoring after 18 minutes before Patrick Zwaanswijk replied four minutes later.

Arnor Smarason put Heerenveen back in front after 31 minutes and Viktor Elm secured the points with 10 minutes left.

NEC Nijmegen took a share of the points away to Heracles Almelo with Tim Janssen scoring for the visitors on the stroke of half-time. Vojtech Schulmeister replied after 81 minutes.

Sparta Rotterdam eased their own worries as a 1-0 victory away to Roda JC left the home side in the relegation picture.

The only goal of the game came from Rydell Poepon with 10 minutes of the game remaining.
