Former Manchester United star Quinton Fortune has set his sights on next year's World Cup after joining Belgian minnows AFC Tubize on a six-month loan.

The South Africa midfielder joined the Jupiler League side earlier this week after falling our of favour with Italian second-tier club Brescia.

"I am happy to be here," he told Sporza. "Why Tubize? I want just to play football again. Then, why not here?

"In the beginning, Tubize's interest was a little bit strange, I've never heard about the club.

"But after, I was convinced. Tubize is a marvellous club. I was glad to play for Manchester United. Now, I dream to play the World cup in my country, South Africa."

The 31-year-old player hopes his experience can help the team who currently sit 15th in the 18-team division.

"I am not (Lionel) Messi, nor Pele or (Diego) Maradona but I can bring to Tubize my experience and my mentality," he added.

"I come to Tubize with my family and I will learn French. I already understand Dutch.

"When I was 17 years old, I came to Belgium, when I was trialled by Club Bruges."
