January 31, 2009

A last-gasp goal from Abel Hammond helped Mumbai FC come back from a goal down to pip East Bengal 2-1 in an I-League match at the Cooperage.

East Bengal took the lead in the 13th minute when Ishmael was felled in the area and Yusif Yakubu converted the resulting penalty.

Mumbai drew level two minutes into the second half when Abhishek Yadav headed in a cross from Kuttimani and Hammond thumped in the winner a minute from the end as the home side clinched all three points.

Joseph Pereira's strike helped Sporting Clube de Goa defeat Mohammedan Sporting 1-0 at the Salt Lake stadium, Kolkata.

Pereira scored in the 16th minute to take Sporting Clube four points clear at the top of the table.

In Ludhiana, hosts JCT played out a 1-1 draw against struggling Vasco.

Agnelo Colaco gave the visitors the lead in the 25th minute but Baljit Saini scored on the hour to earn his team a point.
