Crook returning to Norwich

Newcastle's high performance manager Ian Crook is leaving the A-League to return home and take up a coaching job with his former playing club Norwich City.

Crook, 46 and also a former assistant at Sydney FC, will return to the Canaries to work alongside newly appointed manager Bryan Gunn.

The pair will reunite in Norwich after they were teammates at the Championship club between 1986-1997.

Midfielder Crook made 342 appearances for the club and scored 18 goals.

"It's certainly sad to see Crooky depart from our club at this time, particularly with our move into the AFC Champions League coming up," Jets chief executive John Tsatsimas said in a statement.

"However it is a wonderful opportunity that Ian has in front of him and we understand his decision to move on."
