Police have charged a man over the car park assault of Sydney FC midfielder Robbie Middleby.
A 27-year-old man was interviewed by police on Saturday afternoon over the incident and charged with common assault.
Middleby, 33, who is joining new A-League club North Queensland Fury next season, was confronted by two supporters after Sydney's 1-0 win over Wellington Phoenix in the carpark of the Sydney Football Stadium last Sunday.
The alleged offender was granted conditional bail and will appear at Downing Centre Local Court on February 17.
Sydney FC confirmed that the victim of the alleged assault was Middleby.
The Sky Blues issued a short statement on Sunday morning thanking police, Football Federation Australia and stadium management for their work in the investigation.
Due to the legal process Sydney FC can make no further comment at this time.
