Wolverhampton Wanderers have confirmed that on-loan defender Michael Mancienne has returned to parent club Chelsea.
The England Under-21 centre-half, who was included in the senior squad for November's victory in Germany, had been due to stay at Molineux until the end of January after extending his deal last week.
But with Chelsea struggling with injuries, and Brazilian Alex repeatedly linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge this month, coach Luiz Felipe Scolari has chosen to recall him to London.
Mancienne is now expected to play some part in tomorrow's home FA Cup third-round tie against Southend.
He made 10 appearances for Wolves during his time with the Coca-Cola Championship leaders.
