Capello not interested in Becks' caps record

England boss Fabio Capello has issued a warning to David Beckham by insisting the record for caps by an outfield player is "not important for me''.

Beckham is one appearance away from levelling Bobby Moore's 108 - but Capello will not pick the midfielder if he is not playing regularly while on loan at AC Milan or when he returns to LA Galaxy.

"About David Beckham, I put him in the squad when he played with LA - and if he plays for AC Milan it is possible he will be in the squad,'' said Capello.

"Beckham's record is not important for me - I decide the squad to win a game, not for the record.''

Theo Walcott's shoulder injury could give Beckham a better chance of adding to his caps tally, although Shaun Wright-Phillips is among the players also pushing for a place on the right flank.

Capello also sees Beckham as a player who can add experience to the squad.

The Italian added: "His record is important to him, but not for me. I am always very happy with David, because he is important to the group.

"He is a serious player and very important - but he will only be in the squad if it is a good moment for him at Milan. I will pick him - but not to help him to arrive at the record.

"When he plays it's because he's fit for me, not the record. I know him better than the other players, because he was with me in Real Madrid, and he is an important player for us.''
