Catania coach Walter Zenga has signed a one-year contract extension to remain at the club until 2010.

Zenga, 48, arrived at the Stadio Angelo Massimino in April, leading Catania to safety by one point after replacing Silvio Baldini.

A brief statement on the club website read: "Catania announce they have renewed, until June 30, 2010, the contractual ties with coach Walter Zenga."

The Catania job is the former Inter Milan goalkeeper's first managerial position in Serie A.

Catania are currently ninth in the Serie A table.
