Ching sends Houston into CONCACAF quarters

November 27, 2008

Brian Ching's first half strike sent America's Houston Dynamo into the CONCACAF Champions League quarter-finals after securing a 1-0 win over El Salvador's Luis Angel Firpo.

Ching grabbed the crucual goal after just 14 minutes following good work from Dwayne De Rosario.

Dynamo ended the match with 10 men after defender Eddie Robinson was sent off with eight minutes remaining.

After winning the encounter, which was initially due to be played in September but was re-scheduled due to Hurricane Ike, Dominic Kinnear's side secured second place in Group B behind Mexico's Pumas.

Dynamo joined Mexican quartet Pumas, Santos Laguna, Atlante and Cruz Azul, Puerto Rico Islanders, Marathon of Honduras and Montreal Impact in the last eight with the draw set to take place on December 10.
