Roman Pavlyuchenko's mother has claimed her son wants a return to Russia, according to The Daily Telegraph.

APWill the Russian return home?

Lyubov Pavlyuchenko said her son was ready to sign for another Russian club, Locomotiv Moscow, when the offer from Spurs came in.

"He didn't want to go to England or leave Russia," she said. "It was 100% Spartak Moscow's decision to sell him."

The 26-year-old has scored once in seven appearances for the struggling north London club since signing for a reported fee of around £14 million on 30 August.

Lyubov added to questions over the striker's future, saying: "I know for sure he's ready to return to Russia any time."
