UCLA 0-3 Indiana: Noschang leads rout

September 12, 2008

No. 15 Indiana (2-1-2) unleashed three goals in a seven-minute span for a 3-0 victory over No. 24 UCLA (1-3-1) Friday night at Drake Stadium in Los Angeles, Calif.

"This is a great win for us, going up against a storied program like UCLA on their home field," said head coach Mike Freitag. "To come back after a disappointing loss and put up a win like this shows the character of this team."

Indiana took a 1-0 lead with senior Kevin Noschang's first goal of the season in the 62nd minute. The goal ended a 377-minute scoring drought for the Hoosiers. Noschang also scored the Hoosiers' goal in last year's 1-0 win over the then top-ranked Bruins in Bloomington.

"It seems like this [playing UCLA] is my game," Noschang said. "When I went in, Freitag said to get in there and score a goal like last year. There is nothing better than a victory like this."

The Hoosiers extended their lead with goals from freshman Will Bruin, who scored his first career goal, and midfielder Eric Alexander.

Indiana finished with a commanding 18-8 advantage in shots, while both teams finished with six corner kicks.
