ROTTERDAM, Sep 13 (Reuters) - Newcomers ADO Den Haag cruised to a 3-0 victory over 10-man AZ Alkmaar to move to the top of the Dutch league on Saturday.
Alkmaar went down a man on the stroke of halftime when Brett Holman collected his second booking. Richard Knopper then opened the scoring nine minutes into the second half before Yuri Cornelisse and Hursut Meric sealed the victory.
Den Haag top the standings with six points after two matches, leading PSV Eindhoven on goal difference following the champions's 1-0 win over Sparta Rotterdam.
PSV failed to impress in their first home match of the season and had Ibrahim Afellay to thank when he broke the deadlock 13 minutes into the second half after good work from Dirk Marcellis.
Heracles Almelo are third with four points after a 2-2 draw at Heerenveen on Friday who are fifth, level on points.
Steve McClaren's Twente Enschede still await their first victory after Joel Tshibamba struck two minutes from time to salvage a point for NEC Nijmegen. Eljero Elia had earlier put Twente ahead on 28 minutes.
Jon Dahl Tomasson and Diego Biseswar both scored twice to register a comfortable 5-0 home win for Feyenoord against FC Volendam.
Tomasson converted two first-half penalties while Biseswar hit the net with two curved long distance drives before setting up Michael Mols for the fifth.
Ajax Amsterdam are in action on Sunday at home to Roda JC Kerkrade, while NAC Breda also host neighbours Willem II Tilburg.
