Brazilian forward Nene claims he on Tottenham Hotspur's transfer hitlist, but has also attracted interest from AS Roma.
Nene scored five goals last season for a Monaco side which finished in the bottom half of Ligue 1.
Before that the 27-year-old spent most of his career in La Liga with Mallorca, Alaves and Celta Vigo. He scored 17 goals in two seasons before earning a £5million move to Ligue 1 in 2007. However, Nene was relegated with both Alaves and Celta Vigo, leading to his transfers.
It was reported there was interest from Premier League clubs when moving to France.
'I have had contact with representatives of those two clubs (Tottenham and Roma),' Nene told Brazilian newspaper Jornal do Brasil. 'They asked Monaco about my situation and about the chance of buying me.'
Nene, who plays in a supporting role behind the attack, has a Spanish passport and would not require a work permit.
It is believed Monaco would be looking for a fee in the region of £10million for the player.
He believes he made a good impression on Tottenham manager Juande Ramos when the Spaniard was in charge of Sevilla.
'I always played very well against Sevilla and I created some goals,' he said. 'This should have left Juande with a good impression and now my name is on their list of signings.'
On Roma's interest, the Brazilian added: 'Roma played a friendly against Monaco here and that is when the first contact was.
'They told me that they are waiting to see if they are signing Julio Baptista and then they would return for me.'
Tottenham, meanwhile, have confirmed the signing of veteran goalkeeper Cesar Sanchez from Spanish club Real Zaragoza.
The 36-year-old is expected to be the understudy for Heurelho Gomes, who has been signed from PSV Eindhoven as Paul Robinson's replacement.
Sanchez, who earned a Spanish cap earlier in his career, played in the Champions League final for Real Madrid against Bayer Leverkusen in 2002. Dimitar Berbatov also played in the Hampden Park final, for Bayer Leverkusen.
