Chad and Sudan to play games in Egypt

August 5, 2008

JOHANNESBURG, Aug 5 (Reuters) - Chad will play Sudan in neutral Egypt in their World Cup qualifying matches next month.

The two Group 10 games are to take place at Cairo's Military Academy stadium on Sept. 6 and 10, a FIFA spokesman said on Tuesday.

The move follows recent diplomatic tension between the neighbours after an attack by rebels on the Sudanese capital Khartoum was blamed on Chad, who denied any involvement.

Diplomatic relations between the two countries were briefly broken off.

Both teams have three points from their opening three matches in the group. Mali top the table on nine.
