Palermo chief says Evani stays in Sicily

July 31, 2008

Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini has quashed transfer speculation about Edison Cavani by insisting the Uruguay striker will remain in Sicily.

The 21-year-old had been linked with a move to the English Premier League this summer with Tottenham Hotspur or West Ham, but Zamparini has dismissed any possible move.

'This is the end of the matter,' he said.

'Cavani will remain at the club and his future has never been put into question.'

Cavani joined Palermo in January 2007 from Danuvio and has four years left on his contract.
