Frings demands reinforcements at Werder

Werder Bremen midfielder Torsten Frings has admitted the club needs to sign a proven goalscorer.

Bremen are a striker light after Ivan Klasnic left the Weserstadion to join French side Nantes and Frings feels the Croatian frontman needs to be replaced.

He told Sport Bild: 'In order for us to improve further, we have to sign a top striker.

'We still need a striker, above all after the departure of Ivan Klasnic, who will guarantee us goals.'

But Frings still has faith in the ability of the forwards at the club.

The Germany international added: 'When you look at the balance of our strikers, then you can be happy with the return.

'Almost all scored 10 or more goals (last season) and coped well with the departure of Miroslav Klose to Bayern (Munich).'

Klose left Bremen for Bayern last summer and helped the Bavarian giants to the league and cup double.
