Three Canadians chosen for MLS All-Star reserves

NEW YORK -- Canada player of the year Dwayne De Rosario and two other stars of the national team were chosen to represent the MLS in Toronto at the All-Star Game on July 24.

The Houston midfielder, among seven reserves announced Tuesday, was joined by his Dynamo teammate and goalkeeper Pat Onstad and FC Toronto defender Jim Brennan. They will join the starting side that includes David Beckham and Landon Donovan against West Ham United of England's Premier League.

In addition, U.S. national team stalwart Pablo Mastroeni of the Colorado Rapids will be a reserve on the team coached by Steve Nicol. The New England Revolution coach also will have available forwards Juan Pablo Angel (New York Red Bulls) and Edson Buddle (Los Angeles Galaxy) and midfielder Christian Gomez (Colorado Rapids).

De Rosario has won Canada's top soccer award three years in a row.
