CHICAGO -- The U.S. women's soccer team will play exhibitions at Norway on July 2 and at Sweden three days later as it prepares to defend its Olympic gold medal at the Beijing Games.
The match in Sweden will be the first time U.S. coach Pia Sundhage leads the national team against her native country. She played for Sweden in two World Cups and one Olympics.
The game at Norway will be at Fredrikstad, and the game in Sweden will be in Skelleftea.
Before the games in Europe, the U.S. team will travel to the Peace Queen Cup in Suwon, South Korea, where it plays Italy (June 15), Brazil (June 17) and Australia (June 19).
At the Olympics, the United States is in a first-round group with Norway, Japan and New Zealand.
