AMSTERDAM, May 8 (Reuters) - Brazilian substitute Paolo Henrique struck twice in the last 15 minutes to give Heerenveen a 2-0 home win over NAC Breda on Thursday in the first leg of their playoff for a UEFA Cup place.
Henrique broke the deadlock after NAC goalkeeper Jelle ten Rouwelaar could only parry a header from Gerald Sibon. The Brazilian added his second in the 83rd minute from another rebound.
The second leg will be played on Monday, with the winners going through to the UEFA Cup first round. The losers will then play a two-legged playoff against either NEC Nijmegen or Groningen for the remaining Dutch place in the competition.
Nijmegen beat Groningen 1-0 in Thursday's first leg of their tie. Jeremain Lens scored the winner in the 71st minute, eight minutes after Groningen had been reduced to 10 men by a red card for defender Gibril Sankoh.
