LONDON -- Emmanuel Adebayor's two goals sent Arsenal to a 3-1 victory Saturday over Manchester City that moved it atop the Premier League standings two points ahead of Manchester United, which drew 1-1 at Tottenham.
Adebayor struck in the ninth and 88th minutes at the City of Manchester Stadium and set up Eduardo da Silva's 26th minute strike. Gelson Fernandes replied for City in the 28th.
Tottenham went ahead at White Hart Lane on a goal by Dimitar Berbatov in the 21st minute. But a late spell of strong United pressure, with goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar joining his teammates in the Spurs area at a corner, ended with Carlos Tevez forcing the ball home with the final kick of the game.
Arsenal has 60 points from 25 games with 13 more to play and United has 58. Third-place Chelsea slipped to six points off the lead after it was held to a 1-1 draw at Portsmouth. Although Nicolas Anelka gave the Blues a 55th minute lead, Jermain Defoe equalized nine minutes later.

PALERMO, Sicily -- Fabrizio Miccoli's goal gave Palermo a 1-0 victory over Livorno in the Serie A.
Miccoli scored in the 76th minute on a shot from just outside the area, when Livorno goalkeeper Marco Amelia was partly screened by several players.
Palermo keeper Alberto Fontana blocked a penalty shot by Francesco Tavano at the end of the first half.

BERLIN -- Simon Rolfes scored twice and Bayer Leverkusen beat Energie Cottbus 3-2 to move up to third in the Bundesliga standings.
Rolfes netted in the 59th minute and with a penalty four minutes from the end but Cottbus had two goals disallowed and was upset that the spot kick was awarded. Michal Papadopoulos and Christian Bassila scored for Cottbus. Dimitri Bulykin got Leverkusen's other goal.
Leverkusen moved past Hamburger SV which was held 1-1 by Hannover 96.
Bayern Munich, which edged Hansa Rostock 2-1 Friday, leads with 39, three more than Werder Bremen, which is at home against VfL Bochum on Sunday. Leverkusen and Hamburg are next with 33 points.
GLASGOW, Scotland -- Australian striker Scott McDonald scored twice and Celtic outplayed Kilmarnock 5-1 to advanced to the Scottish Cup quarterfinals.
Greek signing Georgios Samaras scored in his debut and other goals came from Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink and Gary Caldwell at Rugby Park. By the time Jamie Hamill replied with a header for Kilmarnock in the second half, his team was already 3-0 down.
Rangers visits Hibernian on Sunday.
