Hodgson named as Fulham manager

December 28, 2007

LONDON -- Roy Hodgson was named Fulham's new manager on Friday, a week after the Premier League club sacked Lawrie Sanchez following a poor run of results.

In a statement on the club's Web site (www.fulhamfc.com), Fulham said Hodgson would join on a long term contract starting on Sunday.

Caretaker manager Ray Lewington and assistant Billy McKinlay stay in charge for Saturday's match against Birmingham City.

Fulham have slid from 12th in the table into the relegation zone over the last month. They drew 1-1 with Wigan Athletic and lost 5-1 to Tottenham Hotspur in Lewington's two matches in charge.
