Bundesliga: Rostock climb out of bottom three

December 16, 2007

BERLIN, Dec 16 (Reuters) - Hansa Rostock climbed out of the bottom three in the Bundesliga with a 2-0 win at home to fellow strugglers VfL Bochum on Sunday.

First-half headers from Kai Buelow and Sebastian Haehnge put Rostock clear and they had few problems holding on against a Bochum side with few ideas in attack.

Duisburg were left in bottom place when they were beaten 1-0 at home by Eintracht Frankfurt in the day's other match.

At the halfway stage of the season, Duisburg are in 18th with 13 points from 17 matches.

Energie Cottbus and Nuremberg occupy the other two relegation places with 15 points apiece.

Rostock move up to 15th with 17 points, with Bochum now just two points better off in 13th place.

Bayern Munich did just enough to hold on to top spot when they drew 0-0 at Hertha Berlin on Saturday.

Bayern, the 'winter champions', have 36 points and lead Werder Bremen on goal difference after Thomas Schaaf's side won 5-2 at home to Bayer Leverkusen.

The Bundesliga resumes after the mid-season break on Feb. 1.
