PARIS, Dec 13 (Reuters) - Olympique Marseille will try to make up for their Champions League thrashing by Liverpool when they return to domestic duties at Girondins Bordeaux on Sunday.
'I think the players will be badly hurt for a day or two but will recover for the Bordeaux match and play a great game,' Marseille coach Eric Gerets said in an interview on the club's website about the 4-0 loss at home to Liverpool.
'We proved in the past that we had the strength to bounce back after a defeat. We didn't work so hard to mess everything up in the last two games of the year,' he added.
Marseille, currently 13th in the standings, will be without central defender Gael Givet sidelined through an ankle injury. Bordeaux have won their last three games at home.
Olympique Lyon will have just three days to recover from their outing at Rangers but they will host seventh-placed Nice on Saturday on the momentum of a 3-0 win that qualified them for the Champions League last 16 for the fifth time in a row.
Lyon suffered their fourth defeat of the season in Ligue 1 last week at Caen but top the table on 37 points and with two matches to go before the break, their only rival for the Winter champions honours are Nancy, who are four points adrift.
After a streak of three draws and a defeat in their last five games, the Lorraine club are however losing the momentum of their brilliant start to the season.
They will travel on Sunday to Strasbourg who had three defeats and a draw before they recorded a 3-0 win at home against Stade Rennes last weekend.
At the bottom of the table, Paris St Germain, who moved out of the drop zone thanks to a 1-0 win at AJ Auxerre last week will now eye their first victory at home against Toulouse on Saturday.
Lille, lying 18th in the 20-team table, will host Saint-Etienne while bottom club Metz will face 19th-placed Sochaux, who sacked their coach Frederic Hantz on Wednesday.
