UCLA completes Pac-10 sweep

November 11, 2007

The UCLA Bruins beat Washington 3-0 behind a pair of goals from Danesha Adams and another from Lauren Cheney. The win helped the top-ranked UCLA women's soccer team complete its sweep of the Pac-10 Conference. UCLA, which gave up just one goal in nine conference matches this season, ends the regular season 16-1-2 overall and 9-0 in the Pac-10. Washington ends the year 5-13-1 overall and 2-6-1 in league play.

All three of UCLA's goals came in the first half, as Adams scored twice in the first 11 minutes to take her season tally to 11 goals. Cheney scored UCLA's third shortly before being ejected after an altercation following a foul from Husky sophomore Nikki Murray.

Forced to play a man down for the remaining 72 minutes, the Bruins' defense held Washington scoreless for UCLA's 11th shutout of the year. The Bruins become the first school since Stanford in 2002 to finish the conference season undefeated and clinched the school's fifth straight Pac-10 title.
