AMSTERDAM, Sept 2 (Reuters) - Klaas Jan Huntelaar struck seven minutes before time to salvage a point for Ajax Amsterdam in a 2-2 home draw against Groningen in the Dutch league on Sunday.

Striker Luis Suarez opened the scoring for Ajax after 32 minutes with a fierce shot but goals from Marcus Berg on either side of the break turned the tide for the visitors.

Ajax, knocked out of the Champions League by Slavia Prague on Wednesday, are third with seven points, two behind leaders Feyenoord who won 2-0 against Willem II Tilburg on Saturday.

Vitesse Arnhem only trail Feyenoord on goal difference after beating neighbours NEC Nijmegen 1-0 on Sunday with Harry Gommans on target in the 17th minute.

Roda JC Kerkrade moved up to fifth, trailing Ajax and PSV Eindhoven on goal difference, following a 5-3 win at VVV Venlo on Sunday.

Andres Oper opened the scoring for Roda JC but three goals in 13 minutes, by Leon Kantelberg, Edwin Linssen and Nordin Amrabat, gave VVV a comfortable lead before Jeanvion Matondo pulled on back before the interval.

Oper scored his second after 49 minutes before Matondo's second put the visitors ahead and Dieter van Tornhout settled the match in the final minute.

Robin Nelisse struck twice for Utrecht to give them a two-goal lead but in the final 13 minutes Donny de Groot did the same to earn Graafschap Doetinchem a 2-2 draw in the other Dutch league fixture on Sunday.
