PARIS, Aug 30 (Reuters) - Dutch striker Patrick Kluivert is joining Lille.

The northerners announced the surprise deal a day before the transfer window closes on their Web site (www.losc.fr) without giving any details.

The much-travelled forward was with PSV Eindhoven last season but has not been offered a new deal. He had also been approached by English second division side Sheffield Wednesday.

Kluivert, 31, has played notably for Ajax, Barcelona, AC Milan and Newcastle. He has won 79 caps for the Netherlands, scoring a national record 40 goals.
