Beckham injury woe continues

David Beckham cut a forlorn figure on the sidelines as the Los Angeles Galaxy were defeated 1-0 in New England.

With a flare up of his troublesome left ankle injury keeping the former Real Madrid midfielder off the teamsheet, the New England Revolution took it upon themselves to entertain the sell-out crowd of 35,402.

Beckham could only watch as Taylor Twellman scored the decisive goal in the 55th minute.

The former England captain played 21 minutes against DC United on Thursday and hoped to make it 45 minutes against the Revolution but a bad reaction from his ankle meant he could feature.

Galaxy's defeat leaves them with only 14 points from 15 matches and makes Beckham's chances of playing post-season with his new club distinctly remote.
