Paraguayan striker Cardozo joins Benfica

LISBON, June 21 (Reuters) - Paraguayan striker Oscar Cardozo has joined Benfica from Argentine side Newell's Old Boys, the Portuguese Premier League side said on Thursday.

Benfica paid 9.156 million euros ($12.27 million) for the 24-year-old player who signed a five-year contract.

Benfica finished last season third in the 16-team standings and will play the third qualifying round of the Champions League next season..
